As pond keepers we have a responsibility to care for the wellbeing of its inhabitants. Whereas some creatures, like frogs and dragonflies, have the have the option to leave if things are not up to scratch many others, like fish, are trapped for better or worse. We need to accept this responsibility and do everything we can to care properly for our fish.
Feeding is the first thing to get right! Fish need a quality diet fed in the right amount and at the right time.
Water quality is also of vital importance. Closely linked to feeding it is essential to monitor and control if our fish are to thrive. Lack of oxygen and increasing ammonia levels can so easily prove fatal. Excellent water quality can be controlled with a suitable filtration system. The rewards are healthier and happier fish that not only grow well but are encouraged to breed. This really adds to the enjoyment of our ponds.
